In one of the most beloved and appealing detective series of all time, acclaimed actor Peter Falk returns in his four-time Emmy-winning role - including an Emmy for Best Actor in Season Four, as the slovenly police lieutenant from the Los Angeles Police homicide department. Co-starring Dick Van Dyke, Dean Stockwell, Robert Vaughn, George Hamilton and Oskar Werner among others, Season 4 of Columbo builds on the success of the first three seasons and remains a strong, well-acted drama lead by the talented character acting of Peter Falk. Our much-loved hero returns as the mac-wearing, cigar-smoking eccentric detective that many criminals mistakenly underestimate. Directors: Bernard L. Kowalski Synopsis Milo Janus is the charismatic owner of a chain of health spas. But even his charm isn't enough to calm the anger of business partner Gene Stafford, who's figured out Milo's scheme to overcharge his own corporation for equipment and supplies, depositing the profits in offshore bank accounts. When Gene turns up dead, the victim of an "accident," no one could suspect Milo, especially since he has a perfect alibi for the time of the death. But someone does: an out-of-shape police lieutenant named Columbo, who smells a very large rat under Milo's fit exterior.

Everything seems to go very well to Paul and the police accept his version of the events. But Leiutenant. Columbo has some doubt.

Rumford, the proud Commandant of a military academy, is incensed that William Haynes, the owner of the property, wants to turn it into a co-ed college. So, Rumford plots to kill Haynes with a back-firing cannon that Haynes is due to fire in a ceremony. Rumford arranges for the cannon to explode by blocking its discharge with a cleaning rag and thereby making the explosion seem an unfortunate accident caused by a clumsy attendant. Los Angeles Police Department's Lieutenant Columbo comes to the academy to investigate Haynes' death and instantly suspects that Rumford had something to do with the explosion, which Columbo believes was not accidental. Columbo unrelentingly seeks to prove that Rumford had motive and opportunity to rig the cannon. 4) Columbo: Troubled Waters (Disc 2, 93.51 mins) Stars: Peter Falk, Robert Vaughn, Jane Greer, Dean Stockwell and Bernard Fox Directors: Ben Gazzara Synopsis Hayden Danziger is on a cruise with his wife Sylvia, who is older than he and much, much richer. Rosanna Wells is on the same ship as a singer. Rosanna and Hayden are lovers and Rosanna blackmails Hayden, but he has decided to kill her and has planned the perfect crime. Or so it seems since Leuitenant. Columbo is cruising on that same very ship and the Captain asks for his help. 5) Columbo: Playback (Disc 3, 70.52 mins) Stars: Peter Falk, Oskar Werner, Martha Scott, Gena Rowlands and Robert Brown Directors: Bernard L. Kowalski Synopsis Electronics expert Harold Van Wick has wired his estate-home with closed-circuit television cameras and video recorders. His costly fascination with gadgetry raises the ire of his frugal mother-in-law, who owns the firm where Van Wick is the chief executive. His mother-in-law orders him to resign and threatens to reveal his philandering ways that she has discovered through a private detective. So, Van Wick schemes to murder his mother-in-law on tape while a recorded image of an empty study is being received by the guard monitoring the estate's rooms on television screens at the gate to the Van Wick estate; then, Van Wick timer-sets the recording of the murder to play while he is at a social function, thus giving him an alibi. He forces open a window and lays footprints outside to make the murder look like the deed of a burglar. But Lieutenant Columbo, the super-intelligent detective of many fetishes and a rumpled raincoat, suspects Van Wick and asks incessant questions as he probes the murder and tries to link it to Van Wick. 6) Columbo: A Deadly State of Mind (Disc 3, 70.56 mins) Stars: Peter Falk, George Hamilton, Lesley Ann Warren, Stephen Elliot and Karen Machon Directors: Harvey Hart Synopsis: Mark Collier is a psychiatrist and Nadia Donner is a patient of his. Mark is also Nadia's lover and his main concern is for a book he is writing. When Nadia and Mark are caught by her husband, Mark kills him with a poker. When the police arrive Nadia tells an unlikely story about two robbers. But will Lieutenant. Columbo believe her. 7) Columbo: Bonus Episode - Mrs Columbo: A Riddle for Puppets (Disc 3, 44.38 mins)
